2 English Wonderkids feature in Europa League

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Tonight English wonderkids Adam Campbell and Raheem Sterling featured for Newcastle and Liverpool respectfully in each clubs Europa League qualifiers.

Adam Campbell made his debut for Newcastle, coming on for the last 15 minutes of the first leg tie where Newcastle drew 1-1 with Atromitos. Campbell recently made headlines after scoring a hatrick in 33 minutes against Tottenham in their U21’s Premier League clash which finished 6-4 to the Toon. In the summer he was the top scorer at the Milk Cup Youth Championship, where he helped Newcastle to the final. One of his most impressive achievements to date was when he won ‘most valuable player award’ at Manchester United’s world club championship, other alumni of winners include Iniesta and Carlos Tevez. Standing at only 5’6FT he is quick with a low centre of balance with the ability to run past players and most importantly score goals which he has done at club and international level for Newcastle.

Raheem Sterling was also on show for Liverpool tonight, putting in a bright performance. Sterling was signed by Liverpool from QPR 2 years ago and is considered to be one of the brightest talents in the English game. Like Campbell he is small in stature, although plays in a wider position on the left flank with a great ability to cut inside defenders onto his right foot when bearing down on goal, as he demonstrated brilliantly in a recent friendly against Bayern Leverkusen.

You can expect these two to feature in the U21 squads in the coming years, keep a look out!
